6 students killed in Besao, Mt. Province car accident

Besao, Mt. Province – Six students died while two were injured after their car plunged down into a 100m ravine at around 4 PM yesterday, April 21, near Sitio Bunga, Barangay Calengan, Besao, Mt. Province.


The victims were aboard a Gray Tamaraw FX. The cause of the accident is still being determined through an investigation.


The casualties were identified as Rhema Sumingwa, 18; Merley Docyogen, 17; Lendel Keith Alfonso, 19; Hazel Solang, 19; Dalog Kawi Mangallay, 19; and Lip-aw Aligan, 21.

The bodies of Sumingwa and Docyogen were already brought to their residence in Catengan, Besao, while the remains of Alfonso, Solang, Mangallay and Aligan were brought to Sitio Bunga, Catengan and will be ferried later today to Sitio Bab-asig, Patiacan, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.


Meanwhile, the injured Lander Maticyeng, 17 and Novelyn Sagantiyoc, 18 who are both residents of Patiacan, Quirino, Ilocos Sur are recovering in the hospital.
