Tabuk City, Kalinga - To ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors in Kalinga this holy week, six hundred police personnel have been deployed by the Provincial Police Office across various locations in the province.

Kalinga draws a significant number of tourists mostly during vacations because of its scenic landscapes, stunning sites perfect for family outings, and being home to the renowned traditional tattoo artist, Apo Whang-od; hence the deployment of 600 cops in key tourist spots in the province.

The initiative aims to maintain public order, assist travelers, and prevent incidents, allowing everyone to observe the holy season in peace.

Kalinga PPO Provincial Director Police Colonel James D. Mangili, in his interview with the Philippine Information Agency - Kalinga, said these cops have been stationed at major entrances and exits of various tourist/picnic sites in the province.

Their primary mission is to offer assistance to motorists and travelers, ensuring smooth traffic flow and providing immediate support in case of emergencies or accidents. They are also conducting patrols along riverbanks, a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of those going and in the river for picnics.

Public safety reminders

To avoid unnecessary incidents during this holy week, Mangili urged the public to exercise caution, especially when going to rivers. Riverbanks, while beautiful, can also pose risks to children and those drinking while swimming.

“Dawdawaten mi nga nga displinahin tayo kuma ti bagbagi tayo, karkaru kadagiti apan agpicnic iti karayan tapnu iti kasta ket awan kuma iti malmes. Karu dagiti ubbing, bantayan tayo kuma isuda,” the official said, as quoted by the said media.
