7 men arrested for hauling P.2M illegal lumbers in Tanudan

Tanudan, Kalinga – Seven men from Quirino Province were nabbed after hauling illegally sawn lumbers at Sitio Gumbuwoy in Barangay Pangol, Tanudan on December 7, 2022.


Tanudan Chief of Police, Police Captain Manuel Sabado said they launched an operation on the said date after receiving information from Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag about an ongoing hauling of illegal lumbers at the riverbank in Gumbuwoy.

Together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, authorities proceeded to the area where they saw the seven men pulling illegally sawn Narra lumbers.


From there, the suspects were arrested and the lumbers they were hauling, including the stockpiled flitches of Narra found in the area, were confiscated, Sabado stated.


Arrested suspects were identified by the police as Nelson Bimmunog Butta-on, 25; Edward Henger Binokkan, 24; Jocel Gabit Ayangdo, 24; Enrico Ramos Labaris, 30; Grejie Nagtalon Manipon, 35; Dhemer Molina Flores, 26; and a 17-year-old man. All of them are residents of Nagtipunan, Quirino Province.

The 25 pieces of Narra flitches measuring 518.06 board feet with an estimated worth of P259, 030 were recovered.


The lumbers were brought to DENR office for documentation and proper disposition.


As for the suspects, they were brought to Tanudan Municipal Police Station and were subjected to inquest proceedings this December 8.
