714 Kalinga farmers await land ownership titles

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Some 714 Kalinga farmers will soon be landowners as the Department of Agrarian Reform is scheduled to award them certificates of land ownership awards (CLOAs) next week.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 6657 or the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law of 1988, farmers and regular farmworkers, who are landless, have the right to own directly or collectively the lands they till or, in the case of other farm workers, to receive a just share of the fruits thereof.

Likewise, the distribution of land titles is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III, to expedite the distribution of agrarian lands to deserving beneficiaries.

In a statement, the 714 tenant-farmers who fully complied with the requirements for the grant of the title will receive their CLOA on June 21 at Tabuk City gymnasium.

No less than the Agrarian Reform Secretary Estrella III will lead the distribution to be held alongside the city’s founding anniversary celebration and 22nd Matagoan Festival.

Aside from the CLOAs, Estrella will also turn over farm machineries and equipment to 960 agrarian reform beneficiaries.

A press conference will further be conducted with local media partners.

Inquiries may be directed to DAR - Cordillera Information Officer Jessica Fernando at 0977-749-7994 or send an email to records.car@dar.gov.ph.
