73-year-old man and 69-year-old wife shot dead in Aparri, Cagayan

Aparri, Cagayan – A man and his wife, both engaged in business, were shot dead by a riding-in-tandem on Thursday night, May 19 in Barangay Maura, Appari.


The victims were identified by police operatives as Samuel Oandasan Soliven, 73 and Teresita Agbayani Soliven, 69 who are both residents of Barangay Maura, Aparri.


In a police report by Appari Police Station, it said that the couple on board of a ‘kulung-kulung’ were traversing Rizal Street, just a few meters away from their house when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen and shot them.

The couple sustained multiple shots on their bodies while their ‘kulung-kulung’ crashed in front of Aparri Public cemetery.


The perpetrators fled to the east direction after the incident.


The victims were ferried immediately by responding police officers to Charles W. Selby Memorial Hospital in Brgy. Punta, Aparri, Cagayan but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Personnel of the Appari Police Station are now conducting hot pursuit operation to unmask the identity of the gunmen while investigation of the case is on-going to determine the motive of the crime.
