.7KM farm-to-market road in Pudtol opens, benefiting farmers

Pudtol, Apayao- Local farmers in Pudtol are now enjoying faster transport for their harvested crops as the 700-meter improved farm-to-market road in Purok 1, Barangay San Antonio was formally opened and turned over on August 28, 2024.

The said road project was turned over to the Agbiag San Antonio Farmers Association identified as the direct beneficiaries.

Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua himself facilitated the ceremony, with the signing of responsibility and acceptance of the certificate by the association officers.

The association’s secretary, during the ceremony, acknowledged the people’s help saying the community is credited with the road’s inception as “they were the ones who labored first until support came from the government.”

“Dagiti residente iti barangay, ken mannalon isuda da ti immuna nga nangbukat iti dayta nga dalan tapno adda pagdalanan dagiti apit nga mailako. Idi addan pondo aggapo iti DSWD ken LGU, simmaruno iti expansion ken graveling nan,” said the secretary.

The narrow road was graveled and improved through the KALAHI -CIDSS program of the DSWD, with counter-support from the Local Government Unit in its implementation.

The enhanced road was completed on August 15, and it is designed to provide corn farmers in the area better road access and mobility aiding them to bring their agricultural production to major markets or directly to the buyers more easily.

It is also expected that the road will boost farmers’ profits since travel time and transportation costs have been reduced.

As stated in the signed responsibility and acceptance certificate, officers and members of the organization accept full responsibility for the road’s operations and maintenance to maximize and ensure the sustainable availability of the project for all farmers and residents.

This has been the 21st KALAHI-CIDSS project which was completed and turned over to various associations in the municipality, according to Pudtol LGU staff.
