8,441 Tabuk farmers receive free quality seeds, fertilizers

Tabuk City, Kalinga―8,441 rice farmers in the City were provided free quality seeds and fertilizers by the Department of Agriculture- Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) through the Office of City Agricultural Services (OCAS) Rice Resiliency Project 2.


OCAS Head Julibert Aquino said in an interview that they are working intensively specifically on the registration of the farmer-beneficiaries on the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) to cover all areas of the city that are into rice production.

“Adda paylang dagidiay mairegister (RSBSA) ngem man manu met ketdin diay ti importante met ketdi unlike before nga dagsahan da nga umay agrehistro medyo nasimpa metten,” he added.

As of today, delivery and distribution are still ongoing in other barangays. Meantime Barangays Bulo, Lacnog, Agbannawag, Malalao, Tuga, Gobgob, New Tanglag, Cabaritan, Masablang, Lanna, Calaccad, Cudal, Laya East, Dagupan Centro, Cabaruan, Balong and Naneng already received their free rice seeds with fertilizers.


Rice Resiliency Project 2 Components for Tabuk City


Rice Resiliency Project 2 targeted 10,249.5 hectares in Tabuk City alone which have been categorized into three components namely Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF)-Enhanced, Expanded Inbred Rice Production, and Expanded Hybrid Rice Production.

RCEF-Enhanced is directed to helping 3,894 farmers with 9,339.08 bags of seeds along with 10, 152 bags of fertilizers. Additionally, theExpanded Inbred Rice Production or an expanded inbred certified seed distribution, coupled with fertilizers, benefits some 1,624 farmers with 1,624 bags of seeds coupled with 3,248.20 bags of fertilizers.


While Expanded Hybrid Rice Production in suitable areas will receive 3,955.65 bags of hybrid rice seeds and 15,261fertilizers to 2,923 farmers.
