8 arrested for gun ban violation since January – PNP Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga police reiterated call to the public to refrain from carrying firearms amidst the election gun ban as they have already arrested eight individuals in the province violating the policy since January 2025.

 

The Commission on Elections firearm ban began on January 12 and will run until June 11 this year.

 

In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. James Mangili relayed they have recorded eight gun ban violations, adding the cases against the violators have already been filed in court.

 

With this, he appealed for the cooperation of the public in following the gun ban policy, as well as their cooperation with the authorities in keeping Kalinga peaceful this election period.

 

“Still, we are implementing the election gun ban. So sapay la kuma dagiti kailyan tayo a taga Kalinga ket haan da kuma nga agdal-dala iti paltog ken agaramid iti maikaniwas iti linteg tapnu iti kasta ket nalinak ken natalna iti intayo pannangisayangkat iti daytoy umadani nga election,” he said.

 

As the campaign period is set to kick off this March 28, Mangili shared the PNP Kalinga is prepared for the election season and that among their activities include strengthening police checkpoints, patrolling, and visibility.
