8 explosive devices unearthed in Baggao, Cagayan

Baggao, Cagayan - A cache containing explosive devices was unearthed in Baggao, Cagayan following a tip from a former rebel on Tuesday, September 05.

A former member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), hidden under the name “Tony”, confessed to police that he buried bombs in the area before returning to the fold of the law.

Following the tip, authorities immediately conducted a search operation resulting in the recovery of 8 pieces of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

The recovered IED materials are now in the custody of Cagayan Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (PECU) for necessary documentation and proper disposal.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley Regional Director Christopher C. Birung lauded the officers behind the successful operation, stating that the recovery of such war weapons demonstrates the effectiveness of the Police and their efforts to end insurgency and terrorism in the region.

“Ang pagkakatunton ng mga gamit pampasabog ng mga CTGs ay nagpapatunay lamang na epektibo ang mga isinasagawang aktibidad ng ating kapulisan upang tuluyan ng matuldukan ang insurhensiya at terorismo sa Lambak ng Cagayan,” he said.
