81-yr.-old man kills farmer over debt in Santiago City


Isabela, Philippines – An octogenarian in Santiago City has been taken to police custody after allegedly stabbing a 51-year-old farmer.


The incident transpired in Purok 5, Divisoria around 2:30 p.m. on July 04, Santiago City police reported as cited by the XFM Santiago.


The victim, Jerry Estanislao, 51, was said to be lying on a hammock near his rice field when the 81-year-old Loreto Gadiano came to him, confronting him about his supposed P3,000 debt.

Estanislao allegedly laughed at the suspect which triggered the older man, causing him to attack and stab the victim.


The younger man was able to seek help and was rushed to the hospital by the residents and barangay tanods. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival due to the deep wounds he sustained.


The 81-year-old accused who was described to be going senile was arrested by the operatives after being informed of the incident.


A murder case was filed against the suspect.
