99 % of Cagayan’s provincial roads already concreted

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Almost ninety-nine percent of the provincial roads linking the different municipalities in Cagayan are already paved for the convenience of motorists and faster delivery of goods and services in the province.


Said development was disclosed by the Cagayan Provincial Engineering Office through a press release by the Cagayan PIO on Friday, September 23.


Engineer Gloria Manglapus of said office said a total of 393.8177-kilometer provincial roads out 396.787-kilometer provincial roads are already concreted.


A remaining 2.969-kilometer provincial roads are still unpaved, however, concreting of said roads is ongoing and paving works are expected to be completed next year.

As to introduction of new provincial roads, the provincial government unit confirmed they are opening additional provincial roadways located in various locations throughout the province.


These include the Iguig-Baggao road, Cassili, Camalanuigan -Paddaya, Buguey and Barangay Inga-Roma in Enrile.


Meantime, the Provincial Engineering confirmed they are preparing to make improvements in Calayan Island to transform it as Cagayan’s premier international tourist attraction.

Engr. Manglapus said the connectivity would continue in the Calayan area via circumferential road.


They are also set to enhance the Calayan Community airport and are planning to build a provincial resort hotel in the area.


“Ito ay bilang paghahanda pa rin sa pagbubukas ng Cagayan sa World Tourism and Economic Trade,” Cagayan PIO wrote.

Aside from roads, the provincial government is focusing on building bridges such as the Aparri-Camalanuigan bridge; Amulung, Dungao, Alcala and Nassiping, Gattaran.
