Abra lawyer sworn in as STAR Undersecretary under Executive Secretary Office

Abra, Philippines – A lawyer from Abra province was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as Undersecretary for Strategic Action and Response Office (STAR) under Office of the Executive Secretary.

Atty. Rogelio D. Peig was officially sworn in by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, also from Bangued, Abra on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.

Peig now heads the STAR Office, one of the frontline units of the OES that shall promote timely action and response to the concerns of the public. Its primary thrust is to strengthen the current Presidential Action Center system and coordinate with different agencies toward increasing the timeliness and responsiveness of government services.

Background

The newly appointed Undersecretary, like Bersamin, is an alumnus of St. Joseph Seminary in Bangued (Class of 1965).

Peig served as chief political affairs officer at the House of Representatives from July 2004 to April 2009.

From April 2008 to May 2010, he was the city administrator of Valenzuela City, states the government's official web-based newswire service.

The lawyer was likewise the founding partner of the Law Firm Peig Peig and Liberato, and Vice-President for legal affairs of Hilmarc’s Construction Corporation.
