Abra placed under State of Calamity

Abra, Philippines – To immediately address the needs of the people in the aftermath of the earthquake which brought widespread devastation, the Provincial Government of Abra placed the province under a state of calamity.


The declaration is contained in Resolution No. 180 series of 2022, unanimously approved by the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan this Thursday, July 28.


The order allows the release of a 5% Calamity Reserve Fund to be utilized for the repair and safety upgrading of public infrastructures and facilities and other relief and rehabilitation operations.

The resolution further requests immediate assistance from all national government agencies for disaster response, relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction support.


Earlier today, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. along with DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., Department of National Defense Secretary Jose Faustino, and DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo arrived in the province to check the aftermath of the earthquake.


The DSWD has released P10 million initial cash assistance to the quake victims in said province.


Tulfo likewise assured housing cash assistance for the affected families. Provision of additional fire truck and ambulances were also promised by President Marcos.
