Tabuk City, Kalinga - Amid tribal conflicts affecting communities in Kalinga Province, Governor James Edduba pleads to the people for calmness and understanding.

In recent weeks there were new cases of death related to tribal war, one of which is in Basao Dilag, Tabuk City, sparking alarm and fear in communities. While there were reported surrender of assailants in some incidents, some remain unresolved.

"Ag-talinaed tayo kuma nga kalmado," said the governor during the Kapehan meeting on October 7, while emphasizing the importance of continuing dialogues over discord.

"Our elders and, of course, even the government officials, including our policemen and the Philippine Army, are doing everything tapnu ag-restore ti kapya and talna dituy ili tayo,” he added.

As events unfold, Governor Edduba remains focused on facilitating peace initiatives and assisting efforts to try and resolve conflict, all the while seeing that all voices are heard.

Furthermore, Edduba also appealed to residents to stop sharing fake news, urging them to be more circumspect about the posts and information being broadcast on their social media platforms.

"Ipakpakaasik kadagituy kakailyan tayo, dagituy netizen nga nu ada kuma alaen yu nga information yu, haan yu kuma dagus nga ipasa, papakaasi kami nga i-verify tayo kuma pay satayo ipasa," he said.

PNP-Kalinga chief PCOL Gilbert Fati-ig, in the meantime, likewise appealed to residents to refrain from posting or disseminating unverified information as it will affect their investigations to the current issue.

“Respect lang sana. ‘Yun ang request ko,” said the Kalinga top cop.
