Agricultural development in Apayao to expect further boost with P20M allocated fund

Luna, Apayao – A P20,000,000 fund was allotted to bolster agricultural infrastructure support programs across the province this 2024, according to the Provincial Office of Agricultural Services.

The said amount shall benefit thousands of farmers in various parts of Apayao, especially areas where there are thriving agricultural communities.

For the first half of the year, part of the budget already accomplished completion of 5 units of Multi-purpose Drying Pavement with End-shed in lower Apayao amounting to P4,000,000.

Moreover, there shall be the construction of three units of MPDPs with an End-shed in upper Apayao amounting to P3,000,000. There are also ongoing improvements of Purag Irrigation System in Badduat, Kabugao worth P5,000,000; ongoing improvement of 1 unit of warehouse in Calafug, Conner worth P1,000,000; ongoing construction of 1 unit of multi-purpose shed in Poblacion West, Flora at P1,000,000; ongoing construction of 1 unit of municipal Nursery with potting shed in Bulu,Kabugao worth P1,000,000; and ongoing procurement of farm equipment and machineries amounting to P5,000,000.

Agricultural Technologist Engr. Freddie Lazo expressed hope the ongoing projects will fully be completed and operational the soonest possible time this year.

Senior Agriculturist Pearl Castillo, meantime, assured the amount is being thoroughly utilized for the projects, with the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) supervising the constructions.
