Agriculture divisions in Kalinga now centralized


Tabuk City, Kalinga - All divisions of the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) in Kalinga are now centralized with the recent completion of the Agricultural Extension Research and Farm Mechanization building.


The construction of the two-storey building with a contract cost of P6,898,319.06 started following the groundbreaking ceremony held last June 28, 2021 at the OPAS compound, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

With the initiative of Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Domingo Bakilan, the erection of the facility was finished, thus its blessing and inauguration on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.


Present at said event were Governor James Edubba, Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac, Provincial Agriculturist Bakilan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, officiating priest Fr. Sean Mejia, and personnel from DA-Cordillera and OPAS-Kalinga.


Efficient agricultural services, especially for the benefit of farmers and other agriculture sectors, are expected to be offered with better access to the divisions of Research Regulatory, Agriculture and Engineering, Production and Facilities, and the Administrative division.

To note, the fund used came from the economic development fund of the provincial government which was also the implementing unit.


The new building is equipped with office rooms, conference rooms, a lobby, a stock room, decks, comfort rooms, a kitchen, and a ramp.


Alongside the inauguration of said facility was the blessing of the newly-procured Toyota Hilux that shall be used in bringing services to the different areas in the province.


Farm machineries were likewise blessed by the officiating priest.
