"Agsingsingpet kayo, agadal kayo…”- Sta. Marcela Mayor Martinez to children of OFWs

Santa Marcela, Apayao- Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez spoke before children of Santa Marcela OFWs during an activity held for them on July 19, reminding them to do well and study hard.

Many families in said town have a father or a mother working overseas.

During the team building activity, a program organized by OWWA -Apayao, held at the EKB clubhouse, the mayor emphasized the importance of heeding good advice and considering the sacrifices of parents working abroad just for their children to have a better future.

"Being a son or a daughter of an OFW parent is never easy, but you have to bear in mind that they have to be separated from you for the meantime for your good future… you even at your young age, should take advantage by pushing yourself to achieving your dreams… agsiksikap da tapnon maikkan dakayo iti napintas nga biag, isu agsingsingpet kayo, agbasa kayo nalaing," Martinez underlined.

Said event with its theme 'Empowering Youth for a Better Future: A Moment in Time to OFW Sons and Daughters,' attracted 136 young people, and was centered on providing them meaningful team-building activities, unique learning experiences, and nurturing their social self.

Meantime, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) affirms its commitment to continuously support OFW children in terms of values orientation and financial assistance services and reiterates as well its call for its eligible beneficiaries to avail of their numerous assistance which includes, social benefits, Education and Training Assistance, Social services and family welfare services, and Workers Welfare assistance program.
