Aguinaldo features art works on 43rd founding anniversary


Aguinaldo, Ifugao – The talent of local artists of Aguinaldo town in Ifugao was on full display during the 43rd founding anniversary celebration held on Sept. 20, 2023.


Following the motorcade from Posnaan checkpoint to the municipal plaza which commenced the observance, at least 82 artists in the locality gathered at the same venue for the painting event dubbed as “Sabayang Pagpinta sa Aguinaldo.”


Art supplies such as the canvas was provided by the local government unit led by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. Friends, family, couple, or other groups can share in one canvas.


Artists of different ages had their unique way of portraying the theme, “Celebrate Aguinaldo: Home of Bounty and Adventures. By the end, the participants finished a total of 96 incredible artworks.

Some of the paintings were sold during the celebration.


Though the event was not a contested one, the 10 best paintings will be exhibited in Baguio, according to Aguinaldo Tourism Information Office.


In addition to the painting activity, a photo exhibit was likewise displayed, showcasing the transformation of Aguinaldo since its inception in the 1970s to the approval of Batasang Pambansa 86 in 1980 to its early years as a separate municipality, until the 20th century.


Previous leaders and present officials were presented to the public for due recognition.


In his talk, Mayor Chilagan paid tribute to the forebears who envisioned a thriving community and tirelessly worked to bring it to life. He renewed his commitment and pledged that he remains persistent on the path of town development.


“As we celebrate today, let us remember that our municipality story is far from over. Together with renewed enthusiasm and shared vision, we continue to build a brighter future for generations to come,” said the mayor.


“May this anniversary be a reminder of our unity, our strength, and our collective determination to make our municipality a place where everyone can thrive,” he added.


Chilagan was joined by the provincial and local officials, along with John Wick ng Baguio, in the commemoration conducted with the theme, "Moving Forward through Governance and Service Excellence."
