Aguinaldo, Ifugao earns national recognition for highly functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – For garnering a score equivalent to ideal classification in the Anti-Drug Council Functionality Audit and Awarding Assessment for 2021, the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) of Aguinaldo, Ifugao received 2022 National ADAC Performance Award.

Aguinaldo ADAC chaired by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. got the accolade during the Regional Awarding of Best Performing LGUs-cum-Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Caravan last Feb. 08, 2023 in Baguio City.

Given by the Department of Interior and Local Government, the award was conferred to the LGU for effective and efficient performance in terms of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs of the national government's anti-illegal drugs campaign.

In compliance with DILG Memorandum Circular 2022-034, the 2021 ADAC performance audit was done in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP) and local Civil Society Organizations (CSO).

The audit was ‘’to assess the functionality and effectiveness of local ADACs based on existing issuances and policies, determine ADAC-initiated and/or endorsed innovations and best practices at all levels, create a platform for evaluation and assessment, and recognize the best, effective, and performing ADACs.’’

Criteria for the 2021 ADAC performance audit, aside from innovative anti-drug abuse programs, include the organization of local ADAC, the conduct of ADAC meetings, allocation of funds for anti-illegal drug activities, formulation and implementation of ADAC plans and programs, and supervision and support to component ADACs.

In the ADAC award, Aguinaldo town was recognized for its exemplary efforts in the performance of its duties in contemplating the said campaign of the national government. The municipality garnered 85 functionality points in the conduct of the 2021 audit.

With the support of various national line agencies, the municipal government has been administering programs to counter their constituent’s involvement in illegal drugs.
