Aguinaldo, Ifugao limits use of firecrackers to “community fireworks display” ONLY

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – To minimize the risk of injuries and avoid casualties caused by firecrackers, Aguinaldo municipality in Ifugao limited the use of such to community fireworks display only.

Firecrackers were among the main causes of incidental fires that damaged properties, including injuries and even death during the yuletide season, turning the supposed celebration into tragic incidents.

To protect his constituents from such untoward occurrences, Aguinaldo Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. issued on December 01 Executive Order No. 2022 – 37, regulating the use and selling of said devices in the locality.

Pursuant to Republic Act 7183, the mayor strictly prohibited the distribution and/or selling of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices within the municipality.

Local officials and authorities including Punong Barangays, Municipal Police Station and Bureau of Fire Protection are directed to ensure that no other firecrackers shall be used if not within the scope of the community fireworks display.

The order only allows the fireworks display with the following conditions:

a. It is conducted on the occasion or as part of the celebration, competition, or similar event held in a venue other than a place of residence.

b. It is conducted under the supervision of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Aguinaldo Station and/or Aguinaldo Municipal Police Station.

c. Only firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices allowed in RA 7183 shall be allowed under the community fireworks display.

d. It is allowed by the Office of the Municipal Mayor through a special permit specifying the date and time of the fireworks display and the specific area in which the display will be conducted, in conformity with national standards, rules, and regulations.
