Aguinaldo, Ifugao’s Harrison Rodeo Fest returns

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Residents of Ubao, including those in other barangays of Aguinaldo, Ifugao, and visitors, gathered today, May 17, at Sitio Mabbalat to mark the start of the 4th Harrison Rodeo Festival.

The festivity which is part of the “Apar ad Ubao” is in celebration of the land's bountiful harvest and the hard work and resilience of the people. Aguinaldo is one of the key livestock producers in Ifugao. It has the widest contiguous pasture in the province and probably in the Cordilleras, says Board Member Joseph Juguiad Odan.

In a two-day event, the people of Aguinaldo showcase their own version of the good old West through the games and attires.

Among the highlights of the celebration are ethnic-rodeo fashion show, rodeo sports competition, line or barn dance competition, country music festival, corn and cattle congress, culinary arts competition, and trade exhibit at the village’s public market, among others.

Some 40 Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library, an offline platform containing over 1,500 Department of Education curriculum-based videos designed to improve learning outcomes, was also turned over to 120 school teachers in the locality.

Three designers will further feature their rodeo-inspired creations through local models.

The festivity is being made possible through the joint effort of all stakeholders including the provincial government through its Provincial Veterinary Office, Agriculture Environment and Natural Resources Office and Sangguniang Panlalawigan, in partnership with Aguinaldo LGU, Ubao BLGU and Department of Trade and Industry.
