Aguinaldo Mayor elected President of League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Ifugao

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – The Municipal Mayor of Aguinaldo, Ifugao, Gaspar Chilagan Jr. was elected unanimously as the new president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) -Ifugao Chapter on Friday, September 16, replacing former Mayor Gerry D. Luglug of Hingyon.


Chilagan was unopposed.


In an interview with a staff of the Department of Interior and Local Government Unit of Ifugao, she relayed the voting was done through Viva Voce voting or voting by speech, as distinguished from voting by a written or printed ballot.

As witnessed by DILG Ifugao OIC Maritess M. Cariño, LGOO V Gyda H. Namingit, and Representatives from the LMP National Office, the election was held at the Gazebo Garden Restaurant, Lagawe, Ifugao.


Chilagan, in a statement, vowed to pursue developments and to put more effort into helping the progress of all municipalities in the province. This, he said, is in accordance with the LMP’s goal of assisting the national government in the formulation and implementation of policies, programs, and projects involving municipalities.

Additionally, the LMP serves as an avenue for expressing ideas for the promotion of the welfare of municipalities.


Other elected officials of the league were Mayor Victomar Bunnol as Vice-President, Mayor Joel Bungallon as Secretary, Mayor Florencio B. Nalula as Treasurer; Mayor Raldis Bulayungan as Auditor; Mayor Edralin B. Alipio as Public Relations Officer.


Five other mayors which include Mayor Samson Benito of Tinoc, Mayor Casan Dumulag of Hungduan, Mayor Jimmy B. Padchanan of Mayoyao, Mayor Martin L. Habawel Jr. of Lagawe and Mayor Archie Lee Quindo of Asipulo) will serve as the Board of Directors.


The officials took their oaths of office right after the election.
