Aguinaldo National High School-Extension in Ifugao begins improvement

Updated: Oct 31, 2022

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – To prepare the Aguinaldo National High School- Awayan Extension for developments, the Local Government Unit of Aguinaldo has started the ground leveling of the two-hectare lot of said school last Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

The municipal government headed by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. provided the necessary equipment which includes a bulldozer, 2 loader trucks, and 4 dump trucks to fulfill his commitment to upgrade the school.

The said high school is currently accommodating 123 Junior high school students.

These students are from the barangays of Awayan, Monggayang, Chalalo and Butac.

Apart from the ground leveling project, the mayor in his Facebook post promised to provide funds for an additional classroom under the 2023 Annual budget of the Aguinaldo LGU.

The school has one classroom building and 3 makeshift classrooms built through the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders which include the MLGU, BLGU, Dep-Ed Aguinaldo, among others.

According to School Head Victor Gumman, the fund used in building the classrooms were provided by the municipal local government unit while its comfort rooms were financed by the barangay local government unit of Awayan.

“Upon my designation last August 2022 at ANHS extension, we requested materials to be used for the 3 makeshift rooms and for the roofing of classrooms. We are doing this so that we can transfer to the new school site because as per practice, they have been borrowing 3 classrooms in the elementary from grade 7 to 9 during the past school year,” the school head relayed.

A struggle to develop and improve school

Gumman further acknowledged that they felt challenged on their part as administrators and teachers to develop and improve the ‘beginning school.’

“It is our vision therefore to establish a conducive learning environment for everyone and develop an accessible school that provides quality education to learners. This is in partnership with our stakeholders and the LGU through the leadership of our supportive Municipal mayor Gaspar B. Chilagan,” he added.

As recalled, the operation of the annex school started in 2019.
