Aguinaldo youth showcase talents, skills in year-end homecoming 2022

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Aguinaldo town in Ifugao ended year 2022 with a homecoming, showcasing the talents and skills of its youth.


The event gathered youth residing in the municipality including those who are studying in other places for the “Aguinaldo Youth, You are Unique and Amazing” (AYYU-A) held from Dec. 29 to 31 at the gymnasium in Galonogon.


Noting that the year-end activity aims to “sustain unity among the youth and make mental health and well-being a priority,” the local government brought together the youth from town, forming seven chapters.

7 Chapters


Chapter 1 was composed of those who are studying or temporarily residing in Cagayan, Isabela and Quirino; Chapter 2 are from Ifugao District 1 and Nueva Vizcaya; those in Baguio City, Benguet, Nueva Ecija, La Union and Manila formed Chapter 3; and Ifugao District 2 for Chapter 4.


Those from the main and extension campuses of Ubao National High School along with those from Rufino I. Chungalao Science High School (Aguinaldo 1) composed Chapter 5; students of Ifugao State University – Aguinaldo, Aguinaldo National High School main and extension campuses (Aguinaldo 2) formed Chapter 6, while non-working and working youth within the municipality (Aguinaldo 3) were grouped as members of Chapter 7.


The teams and participants marked the opening with a parade and a program graced by Mayor Gaspar B. Chilagan Jr. and LGU officials.


Following the opening program were games and competitions that highlighted the youth’s talent and skills.

Winners


As announced during the culmination program, the top three winners of the volleyball men division are Chapter 5, 4, and 1, respectively. In the female category, Chapters 3, 5, and 4 grabbed first to third place. For the basketball game, Chapter 3, 7, and 4 won the top places.


First placers in said events were given P4,000 cash incentive, P3,500 for second placers, and P3,000 for third placers.


In a separate competition dubbed as the “Singing Idol,” Cheryl Baguan beat other contestants to snatch the P1,500 prize. Ashanti Gil came second, winning P1,300, while Bea Grace Soriano got P1,000 for ranking third.


For the Battle of the Band, the AIBC Band bested competitors, securing the first place with P3,000 prize. Mighty Band came second P2,500 then Testing Band with P2,000 incentive.

Monggayang Group won in pop dance contest followed by Jacmal Group, and the Galonogon Group. The winners received the same corresponding cash prizes for the band competition.


Meantime, Chapter 6 was hailed as the winner in the native dance with P2,500 prize. Chapter 2 secured second place with P2,000 incentive.


The search for the “Akhinnaja and Aligkhujon” which was initially planned as part of the homecoming did not push through due to the inclement weather.


Although the purpose of the occasion is not fully realized by others, Mayor Chilagan Jr. in a statement underscored the significance of the event in the youth’s overall development. He congratulated all winners and the participating youth including the offices in-charge for the successful conduct of the activity.
