ALS completers in Sta. Marcela begin earning from income-generating program

Sta. Marcela, Apayao – Five out-of-school individuals now start to earn money from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) livelihood program in Santa Marcela, Apayao.

These five persons are beneficiaries of the Coconut-based delicacies training conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) last May 22-26, 2023.

Upon completion of said training, the five started the production of Coconut-based products at San Carlos Community Learning Center in June, District ALS Coordinator Kristen Ann Santos relayed.

She added that their capital was given by the Santa Marcela Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Evelyn Martinez and the baking tools came from the Department of Science and Technology.

Among the products being made include buko pie, buko roll, pan de coco, coconut macaroons, and special bibingka.

From their first two weeks, the group was able to generate P23,000 in sales, and their products already reached other places like Baguio City, Tabuk City, and Abra.
