Man in Benguet shoots companions, kills 2, wounded three others


Itogon, Benguet – A heated argument turned deadly in Itogon, Benguet, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, Brent Cupa Beneg and Gaspar Mario Witawit, both residents of Itogon.

Three others, namely Bacani Dalalo, Laurence Onsar Buslig, and Mark Jayson Carbonel Benneg, sustained injuries and are currently in stable condition at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).


The incident occurred during a drinking spree at a shanty in Camp 11 Acupan, Virac, Itogon, on Thursday, January 11.

The 26-year-old suspect, whose name is withheld, left the scene but returned moments later with a gun, firing at his companions.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. on the mentioned date, as reported by Police Major Mathew Burgos during an interview with DZWT 540 Radyo Totoo, a local media outlet.

The suspect fled but was apprehended by police in a hot pursuit operation. He now faces multiple charges, including murder, serious physical injuries, and frustrated murder.
