Apayao cited nationally for outstanding support to children’s holistic development

Apayao, Philippines – The Province of Apayao’s exceptional initiatives to support children’s holistic development was recognized in the whole country in a ceremony held at Novotel Manila in Quezon City on May 4, 2024.

Apayao is among the five provinces conferred with the Gawad Edukampyon for Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) – Province category.

For this year’s Gawad Edukampyon Awards, 323 nominations were sent out for the four award categories and 70 of them were submitted for the ECCD.

Among the provincial nominees, Apayao joined Bulacan, Misamis Oriental, Quirino, and South Cotabato in receiving the Gawad Edukampyon for ECCD award for their compliance with the ECCD council’s program delivery and other standards.

In a video message, Governor Elias Bulut Jr. said that their program on early childhood care development is a collective effort of the local government, government agencies and offices, and stakeholders.

Among initiatives done for the ECCD program in the province include construction and renovation of child centers, which provide conducive learning environment for children; continuous capacity building initiatives for child development workers; provision of essential materials and supplies; and supplemental feeding program.

Bulut thanked the people behind the award and enjoined everyone in the province to keep working for the children’s holistic development in Apayao saying, “let us continue working together to build a brighter future for every child in Apayao. Thank you po for your support and dedication to our children’s future.”
