Apayao clinches 1st runner-up spot at CARASUC 2024 with 136 medals

Luna, Apayao - Apayao athletes once again proved their prowess in sports competitions after their success in the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet 2024.

 

Following the province's impressive performance in the recently concluded CARAA meet, Apayao continued the winning streak at the tertiary level with another strong finish, bagging a total of 136 medals.

 

Showcasing redemption of their home advantage, the Apayao State College (ASC) was hailed as the first runner-up with 38 golds, 46 silvers, and 52 bronze medals, behind Benguet State University, which amassed 114 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 45 bronze medals.

 

On the other hand, Ifugao State University secured the third spot with 28 gold medals, 56 silver medals, and 44 bronze medals, followed by the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology with 24 gold medals, 39 silver medals, and 74 bronze medals; Mountain Province State Polytechnic College with 20 gold medals, 49 silver medals, and 51 bronze medals; Kalinga State University (KSU) with 14 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals.

 

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines – Baguio, who joined the event for the first time, secured 5 bronze medals.

 

Expressing their warmest commendations, Governor Elias Bulut, Jr. and Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang congratulated the athletes for their impressive performances.

 

It can be recalled that ASC has only won 10 gold medals during the CARASUC 2023 which was held at KSU.
