Apayao European-style Christmas Village opens to public

Luna, Apayao – It’s 34 more days before the holidays, but the spirit of Christmas is now already being felt in Apayao with the return of its captivating and fun-filled Christmas Village.

For this year, the Provincial Capitol Compound offers yApayaos and visitors a European-vibe celebration with a 57-foot Christmas tree adorned with lanterns and different lights . The center piece symbolizes prosperity and the decorations demonstrate the unity of its municipalities and the culture and traditions of the people.

The place is even more enchanting with the addition of bright and colorful fountains.

This attraction for the Yuletide season was formally opened to the public by the Apayao Provincial Local Government Unit headed by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

The opening ceremony was marked with a performance from the Department of Public Works and Highways Apayao chorale and from the La De Luna Rondalla whose members are the young recipients of a musical training funded by Bulut.

In his message, Bulut who donated instruments to the group and shouldered honorarium of trainers pledged P10,000 for the children performers as his gift to them.

Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang who personally graced the program, meantime, enjoined the people of Apayao to always thank the Almighty for the opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ without the fear of the pandemic.

“Haan tayo nga liplipatan iti agyaman ken Apo Diyos ta finally ket na-reach tayo diay year iti panag-celebrate nga awanen iti but-buteng tayo iti pandemic and we should always thank the Lord ken daytoy gift of life nga inted na kanya tayo,” she said.

The Apayao Christmas Village is open every night from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
