Apayao fish farmers get P2.3M aquaculture inputs from Provincial LGU


Luna, Apayao – About 400 fish farmers in Apayao recently received over P2.3 million worth of aquaculture inputs from the provincial government.


Apayao PLGU, through its Agricultural Services Office, initiated this program to boost both land resources and water resources in the province, while fostering a thriving ecosystem.

Through this initiative, local farmers in Apayao will be empowered to enhance their fish farming activities and earn extra income through aquaculture.


Likewise, it will serve as a catalyst for bringing together small-scale food producers, who will collaborate on sustainable agricultural practices to manage fish production challenges.


Last Oct. 24, 2023, 400 fish raisers in Lower Apayao became the first recipients of the program, of which, they received Tilapia fingerlings and feeds.


These initial aquaculture aid given, as mentioned by the Apayao Provincial Public Information Office, is essential components for the sustainable development of fish farming in the province.


It is expected that the recipients of these aquaculture assistance will be able to sustain their fish farming businesses.


Further distributions are scheduled for Upper Apayao beneficiaries in the coming days.
