Apayao PLGU awards 40 buffaloes to farmers in Flora and Santa Marcela to boost dairy production


Luna, ApayaoAfter the completion of their training, farmers in Apayao received a total of 40 buffaloes from the provincial government to boost dairy production in the province.


Under the Apayao Provincial Veterinary Office Farmers Livestock School program, the grant aims to grow dairy products in Apayao, while providing additional income to the qualified farmers-recipients.

According to the Apayao Public Information Office, the buffaloes were chosen to be distributed to the beneficiaries since their milk and meat have high market prices and demand due to their nutritional value and good quality.


Before getting the livelihood grant, recipients were required to undergo training in dairy production first which teaches Sustainable Farming.


The beneficiaries were likewise reminded of record keeping, as well as cattle disease and control prevention.


On Nov. 9, 2023, about 20 farmers from the municipalities of Flora and Santa Marcela were given 2 heads of Buffaloes each after they completed the housing, pasture area, and forages for the animals.


Other qualified farmers from other municipalities in the province shall likewise benefit from the program later this year.
