Apayao PLGU awards P1M cash to informant for the neutralization of NPA combatant

Luna, Apayao – True to its words, Apayao Provincial Local Government Unit awarded P1,000,000 cash to an informant who played a crucial role in the neutralization of a Communist Terrorist Group in Flora, Apayao last month.

The said amount was given to a citizen on November 22, 2023 at BGVJr. Memorial Gymnasium as proof of the provincial government’s sincerity and commitment to sustaining peace and order in the province.

With the tip provided by the informant to the authorities about the presence of an armed group in Upper Atok, Flora on October 20, 2023, forces of the military conducted an operation that led to the death of a certain Ka Bernard who was said to be a member of the Komiteng Probinsya (KOMPROB) Cagayan, Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KRCV).

The cash was awarded to the recipient by National Defense Secretary Gilberto ‘Gibo’ Teodoro Jr., Governor Bulut, Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, Governor Manuel Mamba, and Lt. Gen. Fernyl Buca.

The grant is in pursuant to Executive Order 22 series of 2022 signed by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. that gives a P1 million reward to anyone (informant) or any unit or team who ‘captures, arrests, or kills’ a member of the Communist Terrorist Group who is included in the list of Periodic Status Report of the AFP-PNP.

Said EO was released as part of Apayao Provincial Local Government Unit’s ‘Balik-Loob’ program.
