Apayao, Philippines – Apayao, having been devastated by Super Typhoon Egay, had to provide immediate and timely relief assistance to its people last week of July.

The challenge, however, is how to reach constituents who were isolated due to landslides and how to land up at areas unreachable by vehicles.

Immediate relief operation to said remote places was made possible due to Philippine Air Force’s Black Hawk, a military helicopter which was requested by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. The latter recommended the utilization of chopper to bring assistance to typhoon victims whose basic necessities may be running out.

The Black Hawk arrived at the Apayao Eco-Tourism Sports Complex in Luna morning of July 31 and lifted relief aid to designated areas several times.

On August 02, the Provincial local government of Apayao through Provincial Administrator, Attorney Edmar Pascua awarded certificates of commendation to the PAF team in recognition of their swift response and aerial support.

Personnel cited were Colonel Glenn Piquero, Major Cristel Jumangit, 1st Lieutenant Jackson Magday, Staff Sergeant Ronald Sarcia, and Staff Sergeant John Joseph Portales.

“In the aftermath of the natural disaster, your unwavering commitment to serving the affected communities by providing crucial aerial support has been nothing short of exemplary,” the certificate reads.
