Apayao PLGU distributes 20 carabaos to Pudtol farmers to step-up livestock production

Pudtol, Apayao – In an effort to boost its livestock production and economic growth, the provincial government of Apayao has distributed 12 female Carabaos to 12 farmers in the municipality of Pudtol this August, with an additional 8 to be distributed later.

Beneficiaries of this initiative are farmers who are currently undergoing training at the Pudtol Livestock School.

The training started in April and will end in November. The activity would enable beneficiaries to gain skills on carabao reproduction and how they can take care of them properly.

As cited by the Apayao Provincial Information Office, twelve of the twenty beneficiaries already received said animal on Thursday, August 1.

Although the training is not yet concluded, the 12 beneficiaries have already complied with the requirements set by the Provincial Veterinary Office and Farmer Livestock School Ruminant Production, thus they were given the carabaos.

These include attending classes every Thursday of the week and having a forest area with Napier, Guatemala, Trichantera Gigantea, and Mombasa grass that the animals will eat.

Before the giving of carabaos, the recipients were required to sign a memorandum of agreement detailing the rules and guidelines they must adhere to.

The remaining eight beneficiaries will receive eight carabaos, one each, in the coming days.
