Kabugao, Apayao – Two former New People’s Army guerillas get to start their new life without the burden of empty pockets after having been awarded with a total of P1 million cash from the Apayao Provincial Government.
The provision of the incentive was made through the Executive Order No. 22 series of 2022 signed by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. which grants incentives to rebels who will surrender and those who are instrumental in the capture, arrest, or death of a communist terrorist group(CTG) member during a legitimate military operation.
The awarding of incentives is also part of the province’s ‘Balik-loob’ program dubbed as ‘Celebrating Oneness, Progress, and Unrelenting Nationalism (COPUN)’.
Latest grantees of cash incentives are the two former rebels who turned their back from the armed movement and surrendered to the government on February 4, 2025. They each received P500,000 at the Old Capitol in Poblacion, Kabugao on Tuesday, April 22.
After receiving the cash which aims at assisting them in their reintegration in the community, the two surrenderers took their oath of allegiance which signifies their commitment to peace and their official return to the folds of the law.Â
