Apayao PSWDO invites qualified PWDs to enrol at AVRC; P300 daily allowance provided

Luna, Apayao- Apayao Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) through its PWD program focal desk invites all qualified Persons with Disability(PWDs) to enroll at the Area-I Vocational and Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) and avail its Free services.

Ages 18-59 with physical disabilities or those visually impaired, deaf or mute who passed the assessments given are welcome to train at the AVRC under the DSWD Region I situated in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City, Pangasinan catering regions 1,2,3 and CAR.

In an interview, SWO III Hanna Gumidam, Apayao PWD program focal said that recruitment is on-going for potential and qualified PWD trainees in the Province. Once accepted, the beneficiaries undergo training at the Rehabilitation Center for a period of one year, in which they obtain social, behavioral and skills which later prepare them for employment or business opportunities.

"Ang pag-aaral po ng ating mga PWDs sa AVRC is Free, this is shouldered by the Rehabilitation Center, in fact they are also given gratuity amounting to P300.00 per day. Aside from that, the Municipal and Provincial Social Welfare will also have monetary counterparts," Gumidam stated.

"We have now six (6) initial enrollees, 2 from Santa Marcela, 3 from Luna, and 1 from Conner whose papers for admission are on process," she added.

Gumidam informed the AVRC has only four centers nationwide, offering various major vocational courses including Tailoring, Dressmaking, Massage Therapy, Cookery, Beauty Care, Hairdressing, Bread and Pastry Production,  Basic Computer with Graphic Designing and Customized Printing, Housekeeping, T-shirt/Mug Printing, Braille, Sign Language, Script, Orientation and Mobility, Citizenship Training, Functional Literacy, Music Development, Daily Living Skills and Personality Development.

Apayao has already produced three (3) male PWD graduates from the AVRC in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Two of them, through the assistance of LEDIPO, had put up 2 massage clinics, and the other is currently employed in nail care and hairdressing business.
