Apayao, Cordillera – The Department of Agriculture - Cordillera, through the Rice Program, provided almost P25.3 million worth of Fertilizer Discount Vouchers (FDVs) to rice farmers in Apayao to help them boost rice productivity in the province.

This is the fourth time assistance has been provided to rice farmers to save huge costs on rising fertilizer prices.

FDVs, according to Edwin Joseph Franco, DA-Cordillera Regional Rice Program Focal Person, will be used by the farmers to exchange urea fertilizer for their rice crop.

Around 8,600 farmers in the province benefited from said assistance.

Additionally, farmers from the municipalities of Conner, Luna, Calanasan, and Kabugao who have farmlands not exceeding two hectares are set to receive P5,000 in cash through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmer Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA).

Launched by the national government, RCEF-RFFA aimed to help small rice farmers be more productive, competitive, and profitable.

The beneficiaries, who are subjected to strict ground validation, will be given Intervention Monitoring Cards (IMC). Said amount will be deposited on said cards.

IM cards are expected to be distributed until July 21, 2023.
