Appas BLGU mobilizes team to monitor and aid residents' during and after super typhoon "Julian"

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Barangay Local Government Unit of Appas, under the leadership of Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as, has formed a team to check the situation of the residents in the barangay during and after the height of Super Typhoon "Julian" and provide immediate aid when needed.

 

The team comprises trained BLGU workers in Disaster and Risk Reduction Management and Peace and Order tanods, focusing the effort on high risk areas, such as those usually flooded and nearby the Chico River.

 

The BLGU said they will do everything they can to ensure the safety of their people in times of calamities, thus the deployment of the team.

 

During the typhoon, the task force also inspected if any damage is done by the typhoon in homes, infrastructures, and public facilities in the barangay.

 

Routine checking at the Chico River was conducted during the height of the typhoon to identify possible threats to the residents living near the river.

 

Fortunately, no family and/or individual was severely affected by the typhoon.

 

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Barangay Secretary Brenda Depalog relayed that the BLGU is thankful that no one was injured neither property critically damaged by the typhoon.

 

"Kaasi met ti Apo ket awan met ti madi nga epekto na diay bagyo ditoy barangay mi. In-initiate ni barangay captain daytoy nga team tapno masiguro na ti safety ti bumarangay... tapno masiguro na nga nu ada man ti naapektuan ket dagus maikkan ti tulong ken ma-evacuate. Kasdiay ka-committed ni barangay captain nu panggep ti safety ti tao,”she said.

 

Meanwhile, the latest update by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) disclosed that Super Typhoon Julian left the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 9 a.m. of Tuesday, October 1, 2024; nevertheless, heavy rainfall advisories continue to remind the public.

 

The BLGU likewise cautioned residents to remain vigilant of possible aftermaths of heavy rainfall.
