Are you jobless? Check out DOLE’s JobStart

Updated: May 28, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga― Unemployed youth in the city will soon benefit from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) JobStart Philippines program.

This is after the members of Sangguniang Panlungsod gave their authority to the city government to enter into Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during its regular session held today, May 27.

Established five years ago by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to enhance the employability of Filipino youth through full-cycle employment facilitation services, the JSPP provides one-on-one career coaching, opportunities for technical skills training, and paid internships with Private Sector Employers (PSEs).

The City Government through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will serve as the main partner of DOLE in implementing said program at the local level.

Meanwhile, DOLE will provide PESO core staff with capacity building on the use of PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) and Life Skills Training (LST).

This will build capacities of PESOs in adopting new JobStart model on employment facilitation services, particularly in establishing linkages with the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in referring JobStart trainees.

With this, the PESO shall be provided with 100 beneficiary slots to offer selected young adults with LST, up to three (3) months technical training, and two (2) to three (3) months of work experience or internship.

To qualify for the program, a JobStart trainee must be a Filipino citizen, 18-24 years old, and have reached at least high school level. The beneficiary must be out-of-school, jobless, and not undergoing training at the time of the registration.
