Tabuk City, Kalinga - To help ease the burden of paying tuition and other school expenses, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) thru its Tulong Dunong Program will provide around 1,000 students in Kalinga educational support of P7,500 each semester or P15,000 annually.Â
According to the Kalinga PIO, the implementation of the program in the province was made possible through the funds given by the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.Â
The funding is among the fruits of the continued efforts of Governor James Edduba in relentlessly seeking funds from the national offices/agencies for various social and educational programs that will benefit the iKalingas.Â
Prior to the program's rollout which shall happen in the next weeks, an orientation for the students was held by the PLGU, led by Governor Edduba, on Tuesday, March 11 to inform the beneficiaries of importance of the program and the purpose of the aid that shall be given them.
The beneficiaries of the TDP include students from various schools within Kalinga, including Kalinga Colleges of Science and Technology (KCST), Kalinga State University (KSU), St. Tonis College, St. Louis College of Bulanao, ISAP, and C+ACT.Â
Students enrolled at schools outside the province, such as Pines City Colleges, University of the Cordilleras, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Easter College, and University of Baguio, are also included in the assistance.
During the orientation, Edduba encouraged the students to work harder in their studies and to use the financial assistance they will receive wisely.Â
"Uray man nu bassit (nga gated), dakkel nga banag daytoy. Nagasat kayu ta adda ti kastoy nga programa. Please, saan yu nga sayangen dayta. Nu maited kuma kanyayu dayta, ipan yo kuma ti kasapulan yu.
