Bacyadan falls short to Chinese opponent in Paris Olympics

Tabuk City, Kalinga – iKalinga boxer, Hergie Bacyadan, exited the Paris Olympics this July 31 after falling short to her Chinese opponent.

 

Bacyadan faced off China’s top seed, Li Qian in the 75kg women's match on Wednesday where the latter won via unanimous decision, scoring 30-27.

 

Qian is a former world champion and Tokyo Games silver medalist.


Two out of the five Filipino boxers in the ongoing Paris 2024 have already been eliminated in the competition. The other boxer is Eumir Marcial who lost to Uzbekistan’s Turabek Khabibullaev.

 

Win or lose, the entire Kalinga Province could not be prouder of the Tanudan native for representing the country in the biggest global sporting event which is attended by some 6,800 athletes all over the world.
