Baggao Barangay Captain nabbed for illegal possesion of firearms and explosives

Cagayan, Philippines – A punong barangay and alleged supporter of communist terrorist group in the Municipality of Baggao was arrested by the authorities Monday, February 8 after illegal firearms and explosives were found in his possesion.

Cagayan Police Provincial Office, in their report, said that the police arrested Ruben Salvador, 52 after implementation of two separate seach warrants for violations of Republic Act 9516 and RA 10591.

Seized in the operation includes a piece of explosive (mortar); a hand grenade; an improvised shot gun; a caliber .38 revolver loaded with 3 live ammunitions; 5 pieces of live ammunitions of caliber .45; a piece of live ammunition of 7.62 and assorted documents.

Further, the suspect allegedly provides supplies and shelter for CTGs and that along with some members of the barangay council, they support advocacies of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Party by allowing them to conduct their activities and programs in their barangay.
