Baguio City 3rd most improved highly urbanized city in the Philippines

Baguio City, Philippines- Baguio City recently took the third spot as the most improved highly urbanized city nationwide out of 33 contenders in the whole country.


The result was based on the Regional Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).


The CMCI is an annual ranking that measures the competitiveness of cities and municipalities, said Provincial Director Samuel Gallardo of DTI-Baguio-Benguet.


The cities are ranked according to competitiveness indicators, including economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency to achieve sustainable competitiveness.


The award was formally handed by Samuel Gallardo to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Vice Mayor Olowan, and the members of the council on Monday, July 4, 2022.


Meantime, Baguio City ranked seventeenth in the category of the most competitive city based on its standing on the four pillars.


The city is one of the most improved as its rankings improved much.


It ranked 9th place under the economic dynamism pillar, 19th in government efficiency from its previous rank of 26, 24th in infrastructure from 18th, and 4th in terms of resiliency from number 26.


Along with Cebu City, the summer capital ranked third place in the most improved category.


Second place was given to Tacloban City and General Santos, while the first place was won by Mandaue City.
