Baguio City car crash kills Grab motorcycle rider, injures elderly

Baguio City, Philippines – A 33-year-old Grab motorcycle rider died, while one senior citizen was injured as a vehicle violently plowed through vehicles along Romulo Drive, Baguio City on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2022.


The casualty was identified as a certain Jake Salazar Sillorequez, married, and a resident of Gabriela Silang, Hill Side, Baguio City, while the injured was David Annayo Lumatac, 64, married, and a resident of Purok 8, Kias, Baguio City.

The accident happened when a driver identified as Francis Miguel Reyes Cabudol, 28, single, from Baguio City ran over several vehicles until he hit Sillorequez who was then on board a motorcycle doing his delivery rounds.


Based on the report of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of Baguio City Police Office (TEU-BCPO) through Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation – MPBC, Cabudol first hit a mobile police car parked on the roadside.


He then continued driving until he struck Sillorequez.


Still, the suspect did not stop and subsequently bumped into a Fortuner, a Toyota RAV 4, and a pickup parked on the side of the street.


His vehicle was put into a complete stop when it finally hit a concrete wall.

Police said the rider Sillorequez was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to the impact of injuries he sustained.


Friends and relatives of the victim took to social media to call for justice pleading, “huwag sanang idaan sa pera pera, walang 2nd chance dahil hindi din nabigyan ng 2nd chance para mabuhay yung kapatid/kaibigan namin.”


The said driver of the vehicle that killed and injured one is now in police custody.
