Baguio City collected P21.6 million from traffic violations since January

Updated: Sep 4, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Baguio City has collected more than 21 million pesos from traffic violations alone from January 1 – August 15, 2022, authorities said.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Roldan Cabatan, through Baguio City Public Information Office, said there were around 49,500 traffic violators apprehended in the city for the past 7 months, and payments for their fines reached a total of P21.6 million.

Should the current trend on the number of traffic violators in Baguio City continue, Cabatan projected that the P21 million might become P35 million by the yearend.

Cabatan, on the other hand, said the number of traffic violators apprehended in the city since January reflects the lack of discipline among motorists.

Police officer added the law and traffic enforcers are not happy giving tickets to violators as doing these causes traffic problems and delay of transactions of the day.

Cabatan reminds the public to observe traffic rules and regulations to avoid getting citation tickets and to avoid getting delayed in their day. This will likewise ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the city.
