Baguio E-Lions Dancesport team harvest 22 gold medals in CARAA Meet 2024

Luna, Apayao – While dominating majority of sport events, Baguio City E-Lions also put on a commendable performance in the Dancesport Competition, a sport that just made its debut this year after serving as a demonstration sport in the past years.

 

They were hailed the champions for said event during the awarding held at the BGVJr. Memorial Sports Center in Luna after accumulating 22 gold, 8 silver and 11 bronze in various categories of the competition.

 

Collecting majority of the gold in said event, the team only shared 2 to Benguet Stingers in the ongoing Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2024.

 

Competitors for two categories, the Juvenile Standard and Junior Standard, battled in five dances – the slow waltz, tango, quickstep, slow foxtrot, and Viennese waltz.

 

In the Juvenile Standard category, Baguio City collected all of the gold medals with Apayao Eagles snatching 3 silver and 1 bronze.

 

The Benguet Stingers, meantime, had their share of 1 silver and 4 bronze.


As for the Junior Standard category, Baguio City dominated it, amassing all of the gold medals and silver medals.

 

As for Apayao, they got the 4 bronze medals while the Benguet team snatch the remaining bronze medal.

 

Another category in the event is the Juvenile Latin category which highlighted cha-cha, samba, jive, rhumba, and paso doble dances.

 

The dancing prowess of the Baguio City team shone more brightly in said category than the other group making them win 5 medals and 5 bronze medals. Benguet Stingers meantime, had a share of 5 silver.

 

While the Baguio City team was able to bag all the gold in the three categories, they only clinched 3 in the Junior Latin Category with the Benguet team getting 2 gold. The former also snatched 2 silver and 4 bronze while the latter collected 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.

 

Lastly, in the Grade A categories, Baguio City got all the gold in both the Juvenile Standard and Juvenile Latin categories.
