Baguio encounters three consecutive structural fire incidents this week

Baguio City, Philippines – Baguio city has experienced a disturbing spate of fire incidents this week as three consecutive structural fires broke out in different areas on December 10, 11, and 12. 

 

The fires left damaged homes and properties, prompting immediate responses from various emergency agencies.

 

First fire incident in Barangay Ferdinand 

 

As reported by the Baguio City Public Information Office, the first fire incident transpired in Barangay Ferdinand on the morning of Tuesday, December 10. The team, led by Fire Marshal FSupt Marisol Hernandez Odiver, from the Baguio City Fire Station was mobilized immediately after they were notified. The firemen declared fire out at 9:25 a.m., but this was after it had already burned and damaged two houses. 

 

Second fire at Country Club Village

 

On Wednesday, December 11, another structural fire occurred – this time at Country Club Village in the morning that day.  The BFP-Baguio responded immediately, put out the fire with their fire truck, and declared fire out at around 10:41 a.m.

 

Third fire in Magsaysay Avenue

 

The third fire incident occurred along Magsaysay Avenue on Thursday morning, December 12.

Members of the BFP - Baguio and other local emergency teams collaborated to control the blaze and prevent further damage. It is not indicated in the report when the fire was declared out by the responders, but the quick response hindered further losses.

 

The total cost of damage from these three fire incidents are still being assessed by authorities, along with the causes.

 

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, in his talk relative to the incidents, requested all concerned agencies, including the Baguio City Fire Service (BCFS), the Baguio City Police Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and the Health Services Office, to help in addressing the needs of the affected families/individuals.
