Baguio prepares for influx of tourists this Holy Week

Updated: Apr 10, 2023

Baguio City, Philippines – In observance of the Holy Week from April 6-9, the local government of Baguio City is preparing for the possible influx of visitors in the city.

During Lent season, many people usually travel to Baguio City and spend the Holy Week there. In fact, more than 80,000 tourists arrived in the city from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday in 2020.

Rachelle Ann Montoya, City Tourism Operations Officer II conveyed they expect more tourists to visit Baguio City this year based on their analysis of the pre-pandemic tourist arrivals data, the Philippine Information Agency – Baguio reported.

Montoya encourages visitors to browse the Baguio VISITA app when checking for accommodation and establishments to ensure they are transacting and dealing with a legitimate business.

"What we are asking from our visitors is, of course, to still become responsible tourists in all aspects, respect our culture, our current policies in the city," Montoya appealed.

Motorist and tourist assistance centers will be placed by the authorities in strategic areas in the city from April 6-9.
