Baguio Taekwondo jin wins gold, bronze in Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships

Baguio City, Philippines – An athlete from Baguio City is part of the Philippine Taekwondo team that brought home seven medals in the recently held 2024 Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Vietnam.

 

Said national team bagged one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals in the competition held in Da Nang on May 14 and 15, 2024. 


The lone gold was delivered by Baguio boy Justin Kobe Macario. He was with his teammates, Darius Venerable, Juvenile Fate Crisostomo, Zyka Angelica Santiago, and Stella Nicole Yape. These five played in the over-17-year-old freestyle mixed team events.

 

Macario also won bronze in the Freestyle Individual O17 Male category.

 

Other medalists from the Philippines include Ernesto Guzman Jr. who won silver in the Recognized Individual U50 Male; Jocel Lyn Ninobla, bronze in Recognized Individual U30 Female; Jocel Lyn, Maria Labayne, and Sofia Sarmiento, bronze in Recognized Team U30 Female; Venerable and Janna Oliva, bronze in Freestyle Mixed Pair O17; and June Ninobla who grabbed a bronze medal in Recognized Individual U60 Male.

 

On Facebook, the Philippine Sports Commission commended the team writing “Mabuhay kayo! Salamat sa pagpapakitang #BidaAngBayaningManlalaro!”
