Balbalan holds its first-ever journalism training for about 200 young journos

Balbalan, Kalinga – Around 200 young people will scaffold their own potentials to become future writers as Balbalan LGU decided to provide them the support and avenue to hone their skills.

Under Mayor Almar Malannag’s leadership, the LGU initiated various events for the youth, whether in sports, academics or other programs. The latest is the journalism training.

Said journalism training for the youngsters in the municipality is the first-ever District Journalism Training held in the municipality. It was conducted at the Balbalan Agro-Industrial High School on October 08 – 09, 2024.

The event gathered around 200 campus journalists from all over the town and subjected them to lectures and writing workshops.

Mayor Malannag, in an interview, explained that the LGU planned and implemented the activity as they saw that many students in Balbalan love writing, but while they have the gift and passion, they lack the proper training. Hence, the event was conducted.

“Iti ubbing gamin ket adda kanya-kanya nga laing dagita, nu anya paglaingan da journalism man, sports, or  daduma nga activities ket pondoan mi, adu iti pondo nga nakalaan para iti education iti Balbalan tatta nga time tayo nga LCE iti Balbalan,” he said.

The mayor further expressed that he wants the young ones to feel that the LGU is behind them in their pursuit of knowledge and as they cultivate their skills and unlock their potentials.

“Ipakita mi kadagitoy parentes, kadagitoy faculty, kadagitoy estudyante nga haan nga bay-bay an iti LGU isuda nu anya iti kayat da, basta pag-imbagan da,” he said.
